Undefined filter - JBIGDecode

Avatar

Some of the PDF we attempt to search for barcoded data fail with an error like the one below, apparently due to the use of "JBIG2Decode" encoding.  Is this a known problem/limitation?

Thanks,

Noam

Was the barcode authored with the PaperFormsBarcode object? If so, was it a PDF417 with compression enabled?

Steve,

We are not producing these files, we just have to read them.  How can I tell?

Thanks!

While the LiveCycle Barcoded Forms decoding service is able to locate, read and decode a variety of barcodes, including those produced by non-Adobe tools, there may be fringe cases where a barcode cannot be processed. This may be a fringe case.

JBIG is an image compression algorithm used to reduce the size of a JPEG image. If the barcode was generated as a JPEG using JBIG, the LiveCycle Barcoded Forms decoder will be unable to decode the barcode. It knows nothing about JBIG. LiveCycle Designer does enable data compression for PDF417 barcodes using the Flate algorithm. The decoder recognizes Flate and de-compresses the data.

If you can forward the barcode image to stwalker.adobe@gmail.com I can validate.

Hi Steve,

Thanks, but as I mentioned in another thread, these are court documents and privacy issues prevent forwarding them.

Hi Steve,

I received permission to send a redacted file, which I sent to the stwalker.adobe@gmail.com address.  Did you receive it?

Best Regards,

Noam
