Question regarding paths

New to LS and especially JS.

In doing a simple font color change, I came across a path/hierarchy question. I am wondering if someone could tell me why the commented line in the attached image didn't work (of course, it was uncommented when I tried it), while using the resolveNode method DID work. I would think that if you're creating a direct path to another object, any valid script would work.

Is it the font.fill.color.value that you have in the one but not in the other (I don't know enough about addresses to see any reason why the one doesn't work if this isn't the problem)?

I am uploading an Acrobat guide for scripting against objects. I don't know if there a more up to date version, but I still find this great for rechecking scripts.It says that the information is from the help file, but it is grouped by object, so you can view all of the options for textfields in one location.

It is a large 1.6Mb file, so it may never get through
