Preview PDF no longer available - both ES2 and ES4 - Desperately Need Fix

I was using ES and ES2 for a couple of years but recently added ES4 which removed ES but ES2 stayed on my system so I use it when I need a second Designer open for copy/paste, comparison, reference etc.

I also upgraded to Acrobat Pro XI at the same time.

Ever since I did this, Preview PDF is no longer an option.  In the View tab, Preview PDF is greyed out so I cannot even activate it.  This is problematic for me as I have to save and then open the pdf to review my changes.

Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?  I searched on here and other places and none of the resolutions listed have worked.  I have checked the settings in ES2, ES4, Acrobat Pro XI, and Acrobat Reader and cannot find anything off.

Help would be appreciated because this is giving me major problems with my current project of revising over 100 forms.

I am open to activating Preview HTML although we do not use HTML forms.  As long as it allows me to view the form, I am call with it.  However, it wants a Server URL and I am not sure exactly what Server URL it wants as my company's network is rather large.  Does it want where the forms are located?  Just my internet connection URL?

Have you tried reinstalling LiveCycle Designer?  It should then pick up that Acrobat Pro XI is present and use it for Preview.

Also verify in Acrobat (Edit > Preferences > Internet) it's using Acrobat/Reader to view PDF documents.

Is there another way to get it to detect it?  Reinstalling is kinda of a pain cause I have to open a ticket and have IT do it due to licensing issues.

Yeah, that is setup in Adobe as well as my browsers.

Hi,

please check the following settings to view PDF in Browser.

http://helpx.adobe.com/en/acrobat/using/display-pdf-browser-acrobat-xi.html

This is neccessary, as Designers PDF-Preview uses the Browser-Plugin.

The HTML-Preview in ES4 is only usable with a LiveCycle server in the background, which will transform XFA to HTML and renders the resulting website/form.

Check in Internet Explorer, Adobe PDF Reader Plugin is installed and enabled.

If not enabled, you can enable it by following steps:

1. Open Internet Options in Internet Explorer.

2. Go to Programs tab.

3. Click Manage add-ons button.

4. Select "All add-ons" from Show drop down

5. See for Adobe PDF Reader, if it is not enabled click on Enable button at bottom to enable it.

Yes, I have the plug-in for both IE and Firefox.

I hope you have Adobe PDF Reader plug-in only and not any other plug-in to view pdf.

Can you check following registry setting:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\\MIME\\Database\\Content Type\\application/pdf: CLSID = {CA8A9780-280D-11CF-A24D-444553540000}?

If above registry setting is present that means Acrobat is your default PDF viewer.
