How do you make Dynamic XML forms accessible in LiveCycle Designer ES?

Hello,

I'm redesigning our forms for our website for clients to fill out. These updated forms feature expanding text fields. Thus, these forms were saved with a dynamic XML form extension rather than a static PDF form format. However, I have loss accessiblity to my form by screen readers such JAWS when saving my forms in the dynamic format. Does anyone have any solutions or knowledge to remdy accessibility function in dynamic forms? Thanks.

Try to apply Reader Extensions and see how it works..

Are you saving your forms as .XDP files or .PDF dynamic files?

Check if the default version of your form isn't higher than the one supported by your reader.

Target version to Acrobat 9.0 and above. Read form in Acrobat 9.0 with extended reader rights. Headings and form fields are invisible to JAWS.

I have no idea why this is happening to you, but if you could post your form it might help.

Have you played with the Accessibility palette?

I'm afraid I don't have anything to test it with (I've not had to deal with Accessibility and have no screen reader software) - I assumed setting up Tool Tips or Custom Screen Reader Text in the Accessibility palette would do the trick.

Thanks Jono. It ussually works fine when the document is saved as a static pdf. I followed the expanded field threads and decided to upgrade our forms, but the dynamic features renders the form inaccessible. The Touchup Reading Order in Acrobat was also inaccessible to the dynamic version.

Just spotted this in the help - do you have tags turned on?

To create a PDF form with accessibility  tags

In addition to specifying text for screen  readers, you must also create a tagged PDF form so that t...reader  can read the text.

You do this by generating accessibility tags when saving the  form design as a PDF file.

In LiveCycle Designer ES, the default  behavior is to create tagged PDF forms.

Note:

To display accessibility tags in forms  with a flowable layout in Acrobat, you must run the screen reader before  opening the form in Acrobat.

1.	Select File > Form  Properties.

2.	To generate accessibility tags,  click the Save Options tab and, in the PDF area, ensure that Genera...Accessibility Information (Tags) For Acrobat is selected.

Hi,

I managed to get the combo boxes working (using the Reader's "Reade out loud" function) but saddly thats it. The caption text only reads "MIC".

Basicly i changed the default setting and text revision version.

I don't believe will be able to help you in this situation because this is out of my league, but if i come up with anything will post here.
