Distribute to shared networ folder, sign and send full PDF via email help

Hi, I'm trying to find some answers. I am trying to create a form that I can distribute to a shared network folder. I then want anyone with access to fill out the form and be able to email the full form to a specific email address that I put as an action for a button. They also should be able to electronically sign the form. The problem I have is that the email button doesn't seem to work. It always tries to email back to me, not the email address I specified on the button.

Any ideas?

Two questions:

1. Did you ever use the Distribute form functionality?

2. How did you create the email button?

yes, I used distribute forms, rather than just saving the form in the shared folder

I added the control 'button' then changed its type to submit, then under the submit tab I told it to submit the PDF instead of XML data, then used mailto:myemail@address.com

That explains it ...the distribute form functionality adds a section to your template and will use the email address that you have registered in acrobat.com as the reciever. Do you have the original version of the form before you did the distribute?

yes, I have the original, i've tried saving that to the shared folder directly, but then it seems that the signature line doesn't work.

Did you Reader Extend it in Acrobat to allow signatures to work in Reader?

This I haven't done, could you run me through the steps I should take after designing the form in LiveCycle? as in should I distribute, or just save it straight to the share etc.

Save the undistributed form out of Designer as a PDF. Open it in Acrobat. If using Acrobat 10 do a File/SaveAs/Rader Extended PDF and choose the 3rd option Enable Additional Features. In earlier version it is under Advanced/Extend Features in Adobe Reader. Take all of the defaults in teh wizard. After it is complete save the file to your desktop ......I like to add _RE to the end of the filename so that I know that this is the Reader Extended version (i.e filename_RE.pdf). This is the file that you wil put on your shared drive. Note that if you open this file in Designer again (to modify the form) the Reader Extensions will be lost and you will have to go through this process again.

Ignore this... I'm an idiot and was in reader... not Acrobat.

Ok, that seems to work, you've been extremely helpful, and I thank you, but I have 1 more problem now.

After doing this, I can sign the file etc. but when I sign the file, my 'submit via email' button seems to become not a button at all, as in I can't press it.

You probably have the signature set to lock all fields (including buttons). You can change that by highlighting the signature object and going to the Object palette and then the Signature tab. The locking possibilities are there …you will probably want to setup a collection and leave the button out of the collection.
