Programmatically generating MS word

Level 1
Level 1

We have requirement of generating MS word output from PDF. I see adobe PRO has export functionality which exports the PDF document in MS word format. Now I have two questions:

1. To achieve this (converting to word) programmatically, what product we should buy from Adobe? Is it adobe live cycle suite? if you could provide the link to developer documentation would be great help.

2. Now, its bit tricky question hope you guys can help. We generate our pdfs from xsl:fo (xml) (Antena House Formatter), once pdf is generated it embed all the graphics within it but we want them to be referenced and not embedded. Now:

     a. Can we link an image in PDF as external? So pdf can contain only reference and not the embedded image. (I know defeat the purpose of portability, but just a question)

     b. When I insert an image in Adobe PRO, does it store actual path of image or file name somewhere as properties. where I can find these details?

Please help.
