Problem with a form

Avatar

Level 1

Hi

I'm beginning with LiveCycle. I'm trying to create a form, that we can continually update. I've created a table that we can add rows for that. My problem comes when the table reach the bottom of the page...i can't add anything more! My 'Add a row' button is on the bottom of the page, and when i add rows until the bottom, it disappears. I figure this i a pretty basic problem, i just can't figure how to solve it for now.

Any help about this would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Martin

Hi,

Here is the form back to you: https://acrobat.com/#d=jcCs7X85xeRYQjvI2Yb*Cw

Couple of things:

  • I moved the title onto the Master Page and adjusted the content area of the Master Page.
  • Page one must be set to flowed, so that once the page is full a new page is created to take up the overflow.
  • Also you need to set the page and the table to allow content to break over pages.

Here are some screen shots:

Here are the settings for 'page1':

Settings for the table:

Hope that helps,

Hi Martin,

You need to make changes to the pagination settings ('Follow previous' Pagination tab) so that the overflow will go onto a new page. In addition the table (and the page) needs to be set to 'Allow content to break across pages" - see the Object > Field tab.

Here are some examples that try and show aspects of repeating subforms and tables:

Hope these help,

What i want to do is exactly like the 'Repeating subforms' example you sent me. But, just doesn't work for now. Looks like my structure isn't correct, i'll try to work on it...

Thanks for the reply!

Hi,

Can you share your form? Maybe upload it to Acrobat.com and then post the published link here.

That will help to solve the problem,

Niall

That's perfect!! thanks a lot !

One last question :s

Why, when i enter some date and save the form, does it add automatically an empty line? any idea?

Hi,

I'd say the main problem is that you have both rows with the same name 'Rangée1'. This is not a good idea, especially as the first row is the repeatable row.

When objects have the same name, you can see the instances in the hierarchy, eg 'Rangée1[0]' and 'Rangée1[1]'. The instances use a zreo-based numbering system.

Parallels Desktop1.png

By the way you can also see it in the Object > Binding tab:

Safari1.png

So that is when you have multiple objects with the same name.

The problem with your form is that when objects are repeated (add new instance button), then these new objects also have instances, eg 'Rangée1[0]', 'Rangée1[1]', 'Rangée1[2]', etc.

So the Acrobat gets confused ;-)

I have renamed the second row 'Rangée2'. That seems to have solved the problem.

Good luck,
