I currently am in charge of creating several different internal interactive pdf's and am using ES2. I was wondering if there would be any benefit to me upgrading to ES4. I don't currently do any type of database from the filled forms, although I do always create the forms as if they would be used in the future, e.g. making sure all fields are uniquely named, and none of my forms are extremely complicated.

Why don't you just test ES4? You can install the trial of Designer parallel and check if it has something interesting new for you.

Thats what I wasn't sure of. When I installed Acrobat CC, it wiped out my Acrobat X install, which in turn wiped out my LiveCycle install.
