Need Good Flowed-Content Example/Sample File

Using Livecycle Designer ES2 9 and Windows XP.  I am a beginner-to-intermediate LC user.

I'm creating a set of contracts (e.g., subcontract, purchase order, etc.) which adjusts according to user input.

I apparently can't get my head around how flowed forms work.  My subforms/content do not flow as I expect.  They tend to overlap, and I cannot figure out the correct combinations of master pages, content areas, flowed vs. positioned, pagination, etc., etc., etc.

Does anyone have a good example of a flowed-content form that I can use for reference?  I would sure appreciate it.

Hi Bryan,

Here is a summary that illustrates the difference between flowed and positioned content: http://assure.ly/eSGQMt.

This example looks at expanding content in a flowed form: http://assure.ly/e2jR0C.

This example looks at building tables and includes screenshots: http://assure.ly/gk8Q7a. Look at the screenshots for Tables 3 and 4 in particular.

This example looks at how to set up Master Pages: http://assure.ly/g0Wx7r.

Hope this helps,

Thanks, Niall.  Those were very instructive.

I guess what I'm trying to determine is how to vary content on any given page of my form between full-width and columnar formats.

If I place full-width, left-column, and a right-column content areas on the same page, the content in those areas will apparently overlap.

If I place the full-width content area on one page, and the right-column and left-column content areas on another page, they will not overlap; however, there will be a page break between the full-width and columnar content.

What am I missing?  Do you have any example/sample files that show content areas being successfully manipulated in this way?

What I'm trying to do is have the interactive part of my form at the front, and the boilerplate text at the end (in columnar format).

Hi Bryan,

I am sorry but I don't have an example for that type of mixed content areas on a single page. I suspect that it would be tricky, as the content in one area would need to know the space taken up by content in a different area and then position itself correctly.

I suspect that while it could be achieved with some tricky script, it would not be efficient.

If I come up with anything, I will post. In the meantime hopefully someone else has a better solution.

Good luck,

Niall
