Missing a conceptual step?

Hi there,

Decided to start a new discussion, this stems from a few probs I had earlier today when trying to set up a working Adobe LiveCycle Collaboration Service. I have followed all of the steps listed here:  https://afcs.acrobat.com/

I began working through the tutorial, was provided an incorrect URL by https://afcs.acrobat.com/ which derailed me for a bit, but now I have my URL and I want to add a room, or or just anything that doesn't look like it's been put together already, really.

What I have:

  • My URL (https://connectnow.acrobat.com/danjah165) which forwards to: https://na2.connectnow.acrobat.com/danjah165
  • SDK pack unzipped into Flex Builder 4, beta 2 plugins directory as directed
  • The AFCS SDK Navigator open (video tutorial finished...)
  • Room Console open
  • Am logged into Developer portal at https://afcs.acrobat.com/
  • A default 'application' -> 'default' which contains:
    • Default 'room' -> 'myfirstroom'
    • Custom room I tried to create -> 'HelloWorld'
  • A custom 'application' -> 'HelloWorld' which contains:
    • Custom room I tried to create -> 'Hello World'

What I don't have:

You definitely have a connectnow account called danjah165 - you shouldn't really be using this one for LCCS development. What happens in the rooms console if you login to accountURL https://connectnow.acrobat.com/danjah ?

Are you using an existing connectNow account ? Did you created this account afresh going to afcs.acrobat.com ? Try creating a fresh developer account and see whether you are still running into issues.

Thanks

I did create one afresh, yeah, the only 'duplication' step I might have taken would be the fact that I use my email address for acrobat.com and adobe.com.

If you can possibly send me a link to 'unsubscribe' or 'deregister' or whatnot (I can't find one anywhere), then I'll try again from scratch - but like I said, 'twas a fresh sign-up.

(Also, I really, truly, very badly want to use a single email address - because it is my only permanent email address)

Gold star mate, thanks for that, my rooms have populated the Room Console now - so danjah165 must have been incorrect then. My confusion arose I think because as you say the URL used isn't a navigable URL, however that is not the case if you add '165' onto the end of the URL you've provided - I end up at a fully functional meeting room - https://connectnow.acrobat.com/danjah165 . Not sure you'll see that room, though I wasn't ever prompted for authentication.

I can't test the custom room stuff I've thrown together in Flash Builder 4 beta 2 though, my trial period incorrectly ended as per my post here:  http://forums.adobe.com/thread/596268?tstart=0 .

Just one of those weeks for me, so far . Thanks for your help Nigel, and Hironmay.

The reason why you can access a room at https://connectnow.acrobat.com/danjah165 is because that would be your "ConnectNow" room URL (the account is danjah165, same as your email address, and the room name is the default one, "mymeeting").

This account is completely disconnected from your LCCS account, but it may have been created either because you signed up for an Acrobat.com account with the same email (and you got assigned the account name danjah165), or because it's an old account and we created both an LCCS and an Acrobat.com account for you.

For LCCS accounts we don't automatically create any room (and there is no default room), so when you use your account URL as your room URL you get an error.

Just to clarify the format of LCCS account URLs is:

https://connectnow.acrobat.com/<accountName>;

And the account URL is used for account management purposes (room creation, deletion, etc.)

The format of an LCCS room URL is:

https://connectnow.acrobat.com/<accountName>/<roomName>;

And you are responsible for creating the rooms and keeping track of roomName(s)

Also helpful, thanks Raff - I'm feeling a bit daft about this now actually, I just jumped in and followed the SDK Navigator tutorials and intro files etc, did I completely miss the info you've provided?
