Locking fields on Master Page

Avatar

I have a form that has several objects on the Master Page.  They repeat (as a header) on subsequent pages when the forms grows.  I've added these objects to a Form Collection.  The objects lock when the correct signature is applied.

However, once the form exceeds one page and the objects within the header carry over to subsequent pages, the locking is removed from these objects (on all pages).

Does anyone know how to maintain the locking feature on objects within the Master Page after the form grows to multiple pages?  Or is this just how Designer works?

This doesn't happen to objects on the form that reside within the Design View (and it doesn't seem to matter whether the objects are set to "Normal" or "Global" Binding).

Hi,

That's not what I am experiencing here. What version of LC Designer are you using? Also what version of Acrobat?

Here is an example, where I have added a date field to the master page. I have added this to the collection and on signing it is locked, as expected. I also added a comments object that expands, so that I can flow the form onto a second page. Again both instances of the date object on the master page are locked on signing.

Not sure what is going on

Hi Niall,

Here's the thing.  My form has multiple signatures and multiple Form Collections.

The first signature locks the Master Page objects.  The subsequent signatures locks lower Form Collections on the form.

So, when the first signature is applied, the Form Collection associated to it is locked (this includes the Master Page objects).

However, when the lower sections are filled out, which ultimately forces the form to grow to multiple pages) the Master Page objects become unlocked when the form expands.

I'm using Designer 8.2 and Acrobat 9.3.2.

Any thoughts, suggestions?

Thanks so much!

Sorry Kim,

I see the issue now. It seems that when Acrobat/Reader lays out the new page (for the overflow), it renders the objects on the Master Page as per their default settings.

The only thing I can think of is to set the master page objects as read only and have objects on page1 with global bindings to input the header details. On signing the first signature, these fields are then hidden.

I don't know if it is a bug as such, but the behaviour you have uncovered is undesirable.

Good luck,
