Livecycle Form Encryption Strength

Hi. I was wondering if anyone could tell me if Adobe have had the password encryption for Acrobat XI / Livecycle ES4 tested?  I want to distribute forms across networks but be sure they are safe or at least safer than fax. Any ideas?
