LiveCycle form doesn't work propery in Firefox, Chrome and Safari. Web brower issues

When I am trying to test a demo form from stefcameron.com as

http://forms.stefcameron.com/samples/data-binding/HttpSubmitTest.pdf

This PDF form only works in IE(10) and Opera. In Firefox, it doesn't show at all. In Chrome and Safari, most buttons don't work.

Is this a well known issue or just me?

Hi

Ideally Firefox settings should show an option for Use Adobe Acrobat(in Firefox) for PDF related content type.

Screenshot as follows :-

Firefox_Settings.jpg

Selecting this option should show PDF inside Firefox rather than it actually downloading the PDF to view it in standalone Reader Application.

Also, please go through http://helpx.adobe.com/livecycle/kb/xfa-pdf-forms-policy-protected-documents-not-displayed.html for this might as well help you out.

Thanks and Regards

Which version of Firefox and Chrome are you using?

Have you enabled Adobe's Acrobat/Reader as PDF previewer in Firefox & Chrome?

Firefox 20.0.1
Chrome 26.0.1410.64 m

Yes, Adobe's Acrobat/Reader is the PDF previewer in them.

Other common PDFs are being viewed correctly in these 2 browers but this LifeCycle Form.

So I am wondering if it is because of  the LifeCycle form is too special.

I opened http://forms.stefcameron.com/samples/data-binding/HttpSubmitTest.pdf  in IE 10 & FF 20.0.1 both appear the same

Can you elaborate on more on the issue?

Also which version of LiveCycle do you intend to use or already using?

I would like to get more details. Like what version of Safari/Chrome/Firefox are you using. Is it a MAC OS or Windows OS..? what OS versions.?

If it is a MAC OS, we have some known limitations with limited support of opening LC forms in browsers.

And Santosh has mentioned, cross checking wether PDFs are loaded in Adobe Reader / Acrobat rather than the default PDF Viewer or Preview should as well help.

I am using windows 7 professional

For Livecycle Designer I am using ES2

And I have just upgrade my Adobe Reader to 11.0.2

To give you more specific details I have attached 2 screen shot images of opening a local Livecycle PDF form(From my computer) on IE10 and Chrome 26.0.1410.64 m.

You can see although I have just upgraded the ADOBE READER, the error on Chorme still persists.

And for a Lifecycle Form on the http, the Chrome will only show parts of  the form elements. I can provide the screen shots if you want.

By the way, it is ok for Chrome to open OTHER PDF files no matter from local computer or internet URL.

Hi

Can you just do one screenshot.

I fear that the Chrome is still using its Default PDF Viewer instead of Adobe Reader, so I request you to open Chrome, in the URL space bar write chrome://plugins and press enter key.

It should open the list of all the plugins loaded in your browser.

Search for Chrome PDF Viewer.

Ideally it should be Disabled.

Search for Adobe Reader Plug-In, ideally it should be Enabled.

I have attached the screenshot of the same of how it should look like. Can you please verify if it is the same for you. If not, can you do the same and then check if Chrome opens your PDF.

Chrome is using it's in-build PDF view and I have feeling that it's the same case with Firefox as well because latest versions of Firefox use PDF.js (it's in-build PDF viewer)

Please go through my blog http://blogs.adobe.com/santosh/2013/03/21/correspondence-management-letter-preview-issues-in-chrome-...

to enable Adobe's PDF viewer in both Chrome & FF

Thank you rjjoshi, I got it. Adobe Reader was disabled in CHROME. So I Enabled it. Now it's working for both local and remote Livecycle PDF forms.

And I did the similar thing for Firefox as attached. The Livecycle form will be downloaded from Firefox then opend by Adobe Reader instead of being opened in Firefox, which works fine. However when I change the Action to Preview in Firefox. The problem will be like  the 2nd attached screen shot.

Firefox is still using the built-in PDF viewer based on PDF.js

Please go through Adobe's help documentation http://helpx.adobe.com/livecycle/kb/xfa-pdf-forms-policy-protected-documents-not-displayed.html  for configuring Firefox accordingly.

Thanks rjjoshi,

The trick is choose (In Firefox). Now it works in Firefox too.

Do you also know how to set it up in Safari (5.1.7)?
