Is it possible to change database on the go?

We are currently using MySQL database in development environment.

Is it possible to change the database from MySQL to SQLServer without affecting the process instances and resorceses?

Or is it advisible to change the database from MySQL to SQLServer when we migrate the processes to DEV to PROD?
