Inserting transparent image...

I am trying to insert an image that is solid white @ 75% opacity to lay over certain type areas conditionally. I have tried 8-bit PNG and GIF from the "save for web" dialog as well as the "save as" dialog and the image that I bring into LC is solid. If I use a transparency dither, it works, but looks terrible. Is there any way around this?

Nope,

XFA forms do not support transparency only RGB colors, so the dithered images are the only thing you can use so far.
