The question is where you wanna use the character.

In dialogs you can use the unicode sequence \u20b9 to show the new rupee sign.

xfa.host.messageBox("123 \u20b9");

In texts and fields it depends on the selected font if the sign is available or not.

I found several articles that stated to hold down ALT and enter 0096.

Hmm,

I don't have that problem in Designer ES2 and was able to paste the rupee sign from the char map into the dropdown.

The question is what Unicode position the rupee sign is allocated in the specific font.

Check the char map of windows of locate the character and the copy it into Designer.

This only means that there is no description for this sign in the font, not that it doesn't exist.

Anyway, what happens, when you open your form in Reader/Acrobat?

Does it display also the square instead of the rupee sign?

Try my sample form too.

If it also doesn't show the sign, you may have to check your OS.
