Export XML data from Reader

Hello,

I created a form with a button to export data in XML. The problem is that it only works if the form is open in Acrobat Pro. In Adobe Reader the button is not reacting despite that the extended usage rights are activated using Acrobat Pro.

The script in the button is: xfa.host.exportData("",0); (click event).

Is there a way to make it work without opening it in Acrobat Pro? I know that the alternative is to use a mail to button, but I would appreciate if there is a possibility to make it work in Reader with the export script.

Thanks and best regards.

Without LiveCycle Reader Extensions sending the data ist the only way to get the XML, I'm afraid.

I heard that the Reader Extension is much more expensive that Acrobat Pro. Until now Adobe Live Cycle and Acrobat Pro were enough for our need. Are there certain benefits from using Reader Extension?

Thanks and best regards

The LiveCycle Reader Extensions allows you to enable the same functions in Adobe Reader as you have in Acrobat (i.e. data import and export, attachments).

But, as long you cannot pay a six-digit amount for a LiveCycle Server you won't be able to use the Reader Extentions, so don't waste your time.

So Adobe Reader can extract the xml data only using the "sending to email" function, but it can't extract the data using a button for data extraction with the script above despite being activated in Acrobat Pro?

If that's the only way we better stick to the Live Cycle+Acrobat Pro combination.

Thanks and best regards
