Email a file

Okay I have read lots of very confusing information about emailing a pdf from a form. All I know is mine does not work. It says acrobat is unable to connect to my email program when the email button is clicked. I am sure I need to set that up somehow, but I have no idea how to do that. Is it possible to set up a email based program such as Yahoo or gmail? Or will it have to be outlook? Through out my search for information on this topic I came across the different methods of using email in a PDF. I would love to be able to have a dropdown populated with a list of email addresses based on a radiobutton selection. Baby steps though for me. First, How do I set the email up? Through livecycle or through reader? Thanks for your help

Hi,

First if you are trying to 'submit the form as a PDF', then this will work in Reader IF the form has been Reader Enabled before it is sent out. More info here:

The submit be email should work with your default email client. I have found that this works best with Outlook. What email client are you using?

If you are trying the button when Previewing the form in LC Designer, then it is likely not to work. Try clicking the submit button when you have the form open in Acrobat.

When it comes to online email services, like gmail, then you cannot set up a submit button that will 'talk' to that online email service. The user will have to save the form to their computer and manually attach it to an email.

Here are a couple of email solutions (depending on the version of Acrobat/Reader you are using):

Hope that helps,
