Crashing and/or Corrupt Form

Avatar

Level 4

Hi,

I'm working on a form that is constantly crashing and sometimes I lose the form completely.  I'm able to start over by keeping copies of it, however, the latest thing is it tells me that it was created in Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES 8.2 in the Acrobat Properties, but when I try to open it in Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES 8.2, it is telling me that it is not created in Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES 8.2.

I have tried several times recreating the form from scratch and I still get the Debug error.

Is there something in the form that could make this happen?  I do have calculations and other scripts, but I don't think that it is all that complicated.  The file is 498KB big.  I have worked on forms much larger and don't seem to have this problem.

I've got my IT working on it, but I need to find an answer soon.

Can someone look at the form to see if there is something I'm doing wrong or provide any information that will help me fix this problem.

Thanks!

Hi Michelle,

Could you please share the form and give a link so that I can look into it.

Hi Michelle,

Do you have any accont in Acrobat.com? If not, then open an account in Acrobat.com. There is a option to upload a form. Upload it, then publish it, copy the link and paste the link overe here.

Sorry, I guess I'm a little thick. I created an account, but I don't see where the option is to upload.

Hi Michelle,

Login to Acrobat.com. In the Top left corner you will see an option Upload. Click on that. Then select the file you want to upload. After the uploading is completed you will see an option will pop up which says Share the document. Click on that. Then click on Publish then click on publish it. An option will pop up which says copy link. Click on that, the link will automatically be copied. Paste the link over here.

Thanks,

Hi Michelle,

When I opened it in Acrobat it says the form is damaged and could not be repaired. Same case with LiveCycle Designer ES 8.2 as well. So touch luck.

Try creating a new form.

Thanks,

Bibhu.

I did and it seems to work better. I had to rekey everything and I made sure not to copy fields too many times. Would that cause a form to be damaged - copying a field or fields numerous times? Can you provide any explanation why it did this?

Perfect! Opened very quickly and seems to work great! When you cleaned it, what does that mean? What can I do going forward to avoid this?

I do not know what was wrong with the form as I recieved it in the wrong format. There was a bug in earlier versions of Designer that caused the template file to bloat when copy and paste was used. Because of the size of the file that you mentioned I assume that this is the issue. Later versions of Designer ( 9 and better) fix that issue and will remove the bloat from the template when open in that version. This is what I did.

So if you want ot eliminate the problem completely ...upgrade to version 9 of Designer. If that is not an option then try to reduce the use of copy and paste.
