Bold part of dropdown value

Hi

Was wondering if it's possible to bold certain part of the dropdown value?

e.g. if the dropdown value has

IT Information Technology

BA Business Administration

IS Information Systems

would it be possible that on the first two characters are bold, e.g

IT Information Technology

BA Business Administration

IS Information Systems

I tried to implement normal html <b/> and <span style="font-weight:bold"></span>, but with no luck.

Any help will be muchly appreciated
