Attach Excel File in LiveCycle Form?

Avatar

Level 4

Have been searching and testing and have not found a way to attach an Excel file in a LiveCycle form without disabling reader extensions, which are needed, and wanted to double check in case I've missed any options.  I have a form that has some additional data needed that is best handled in Excel, due to sometimes they will need to copy/paste large lists and these bill of material lists need to route with the LiveCycle form.  Don't have LiveCycle server.  Are there any workaround solutions?  Thank you!

Hi,

you can attach the file before you add the Reader Extensions.

Hi radzmar, thank you very much.  Tried this and it works like a charm!  However, one thing I bumped into is that when I edit the excel file in Reader, it wants me to save it, then it won't let me delete the blank excel and reattach the saved one.  In AdobeX when I open/edit the excel, then close, it asks me to save, and when I do, and reopen in PDF, the changes were saved.  We'll need for them to be able to also edit the excel file (seems to open it in read only mode).  If you know how to overcome the read only excel issue when using Reader, that would be fantastic, but if not, no worries, I am 100% farther along than before, and possibly we could just ask them to save the excel and send separately.  Thank you again, this is very helpful.

The problem is, that Reader does not have the rights to update an attached file.

Those rights only can be added by LiveCycle Reader Extensions services not by Acrobat, so there is no way to overcome this behavior.
