Architecture Question. How to extend built in pods or should I create my own?

Let's say i'm building a Whiteboard pod.  I have two options, create my own pod (too difficult to do) or extend the built in whiteboard pod but, even this is too difficult to do.  I was able to build a "Chat" application from scratch but, some other apps like whiteboard it's too complicated. So, I extended from the built in pod but, problem with that is I'm limited to what I can do.

I guess what I'm looking for is how to approach a problem of building app. using the AFCS.  I know those built in pods are to extend but, I'm limited to what I can do and it's too complicated to build my own. I guess it is all depends on situation huh?

Anywayz, if you have any thoughts let me know ..

The obvious question is - what would you like the whiteboard to be able to do?

I want to convert all buttons events to TouchEvent. We have a multi touch table and want to create some apps. that to run on the multi touch table.

I already created Chat which I pretty much created from Scratch.

What about just adding a pen or drawing tool? How complicated is this?

Can you guide me through the process of adding a pen tool and be able to delete the drawn object?
