Execute " dos2unix startlocator.sh"

Try starting the locator after that.

That worked.

But when i changed the port and tried to restart it says:

[severe 2014/02/11 13:49:38.476 EST <main> tid=0x1] Could not start locator

com.gemstone.gemfire.SystemIsRunningException: Locator "/u01/adobe/adobe_livecycle_es4/lib/caching" is already running.

[info 2014/02/11 13:49:38.506 EST <Thread-5> tid=0x13] Locator stopped

I did grep for the Locator but is not there. From where is it looking for the Locator instance?

Upon start this will create a java process. Grep java and kill one associated to locator. Try to restart.Check GFLocator and startLocator log for more details in the same directory.

I dont see any java process associated with it. Also it did not create the GFLocator file too. The start_locator.log shows this

You mean to say to stop and start the JVM associated with it?

I stopped the JVM and tried to start the Locator. But not working either. IS there anything else to kill?

Do we need to configure the livecycle on both the nodes in the cluster or just one?

Avatar

Employee Advisor

Configure LiveCycle by running LiveCycle Configuration Manager(LCM) only on one node of the cluster. But EARs must be deployed to both the nodes. Also, the GDS must be shared, temp directory must be available on same path for both the nodes etc.

Please follow documentation to confirm all the pre requisites.

Thanks,

Wasil,

I have changed the temp directories location fonts.AdobeTempDir and fonts.globalDocumentStorageRootDir under /u01/adobe/adobe_livecycle_es4/configurationManager/config. But some how its taking the old location even after the restart. Do you know where else it is reading that location?

Avatar

Employee Advisor

That's not the correct location to change. You should change it by re running your LCM or using adminui at Home > Settings > Core System > Core Configurations (restart the server after this change).

should the location of the temp directories be local to each server or on NAS?:

fonts.AdobeTempDir and fonts.globalDocumentStorageRootDir

From documentation (for cluster) :

3.4 Global document storage directory

On cluster configurations, you must specify the shared directory that you create for GDS. You cannot use the default location in a cluster environment.

3.6.5.1 Temporary directory on cluster configurations

Horizontal cluster: The location of the temporary directory can be either unique or shared for a horizontal cluster. Create a unique temporary directory on each node of the cluster to eliminate network traffic to a shared drive or directory.

Vertical cluster: Create a shared temporary directory. Typically, the shared folder is on the same local system as the vertical cluster.

4.6 Installing the font directories in cluster nodes

You must install the font directories for each node in the cluster, including the LiveCycle fonts that are installed in the [LiveCycle root]\fonts directory.

The fonts must exist in the same path on each node, and the directory must have identical contents on all nodes in the cluster. To ensure this, use one of the following options:

•Use a shared directory that all nodes in the cluster can access. Copy fonts from [LiveCycle root]\fonts to the shared directory. Using shared fonts directories can slow down the access to the fonts and induces performance issues.

•Copy the [LiveCycle root]\fonts directory to each node in the cluster in an identical path.

Record the location where you create these shared directories for later use when you configure LiveCycle using Configuration Manager.

Note: The font directories must be distinct from the GDS directory. However, they may be distinct sibling subdirectories of a single shared parent directory. The requirements and steps mentioned above are applicable to the custom font directories.

Hope this helps.

why is the print service not working?

That worked. If I change the temp location by going into the adobe console how would the other server in the cluster know abt it? I am using the server url not the DNS url for adobe.

Avatar

You should change the location in adminui for all the nodes of the cluster and then restart it.
