Rights Management ES

Hi,

I'm trying to get in contact with the Rightsmanagement of Livecycle. I've installed the turnkey version and the Rightsmanagement Component.

Now I want to apply a policy which I've created in the rightsmanagement web to a pdf-file using the apply policy Service in the Workbench.

This attempt is causing this exception :Caused by: com.adobe.edc.sdk.SDKException: Failed to retrieve policy [:test] -- Invalid policy(error code bin: 1284, hex: 0x504)

Does anyone know what went wrong?

What is the fastest way to apply a policy to a doc, are there an examples available?

Regards

Johannes

I would try applying the policy through Acrobat first. This will validate whether you have set up the Policy Set and Policy correctly. Note to do this you will need to enable https.

Hi Paul, thx for your reply, I've also tried it with acrobat but my problem there is the connection to the policy server:

ssl is enabled

base url is https://localhost:8443

if I configure acrobat which is running on the same machine policy-server with this data servername:localhost port:8443 acrobat answers with an error: connection not possible.

but it is possible to connect via browser or via telnet to https://localhost:8443/

The certificate that is used by the https connection must be in a trusted store. If you connect IE to your https://localhost:8443 then you should get a dialog about the validity of your cert. Assuming you do, click the view Certificate button on the dialog. From the next dialog click the install certificate (take all of the defaults). Stop your browser and try again. The cert dialog should not come up. Now try connecting with Acrobat.

Hi,

Paul thx for your help, worked out well.

But coming back to the initial problem, I want to apply a policy to a pdf using the apply_policy service, in a process.

This attempt is causing this exception :

Caused by: com.adobe.edc.sdk.SDKException: Failed to retrieve policy [:test] -- Invalid policy(error code bin: 1284, hex: 0x504)

Is it necessary to configure anything special?

the only configurable parameters concerning the policy are: policy set name and the policy name

You will also require a valid user for the Publisher name (who is named as a document publisher) and that users associated domain (you can find that in the user manager). All of these parameters are case sensitive as well.

thx,

this user has to be exclusively an rightsmanagement end-user?

Why isn't it possible to assign other roles to this user?

You can assign other roles to that user .... there is no limitation on the number of roles they can have ..... they merely have to be definied as a document publisher.
