One idea would be to have messages in chat include an icon to the left of the chat message and the right of the time an icon which references the product topic. In the text field where you type your comment you can select the product or category. In that column you could also sort an pivot on the chat topic. Since multiple users are chatting on multiple topics, this would make the chat function a little easier to use.
