Dynamic Interactive Form-addinstance,setinstances

I have been trying to get my adobe document to add rows in a table for a while now, thinking that my syntax for addinstance must be wrong. I found a sample that had it working and pasted my table into it. It works fine in the sample document. Why would the exact same thing work in another document, do you have to turn on javascript in open or something???

I deleted everything on the body page of the working pdf, then pasted my own table as before. That works fine and I could keep it that way, but the document is referencing an XML file for data. How can I break this link as well?? It is not embedded in an object since I deleted them all.

Thanks for your help
