Where to Get Started Doing Graphic Design

Asking for a friend that has received a taste for doing graphic design at his last gig, and now wants to delve into that world headfirst.

I'm also asking here because he wants to work with Adobe products, and naturally, I'd like for him to join us in the AEM community.

Anyways, his skillset/experience is pretty limited, but he's eager to learn.

Can anyone recommend where he should get started? Preferably something online.
