How many type of users are present in aem (like- admin, author, template author) and what are the roles of them? what are the roles of template author?

The role of user are define based on permission they have for individual folder, as such as there is no list but can be checked from http://localhost:4502/useradmin

e.g. template-author can create or delete templates and policies

As Arun suggests - an AEM user is defined by permissions in the AEM repository.

No, Content author group is dedicated to work on content i.e. /content/
