Training Videos are out of order!

Avatar

Level 2

There are 55 excellent training videos for CQ on https://outv.omniture.com.  They are supposed to be in order, but they are NOT.  Two questions:

  • Does anyone have the correct order noted down?
  • Does anyone know where I can get the files containing the code snippets?

Hi wallyh22242762Robert Bailey and larry_g

There is no development going on in "https://outv.omniture.com" and it would be decommissioned sooner.

But good new is, the new online content would be available via the On-Demand Learning Pass – some of which is free and some need to be paid for.

Customers can sign up for the freemium version using the “Explore Now” button on this page.

I hope this would help you.

Hi Larry,

Thanks for reaching out to Adobe Community.

The OUTV videos are meant for training and self learning. Could you please let us know why do you need to the code for the videos?

Thanks!

code is a secondary concern.  The primary concern is that the videos are out of order.  I would sure appreciate someone listing the videos in the CORRECT order.  I suspect only the presenter would really know the order.  Perhaps you could contact him and ask for an ordered list?

Hi Larry,

I just alerted our product team about this, and hopefully they will have it righted soon. I will let you know when I hear back from them.

Hi Laurel, no change yet, any word?  (thanks!)

As I suspected would happen, nothing has been done about this.   Thanks for nothing.

I'm sorry, but it's a year later and these videos are still out of order (in addition to being increasingly out-of-date, but they seem to be the only option available).

I don't like to be a complainer, but I've been finding that the online training and documentation for AEM is maddeningly disorganized. I realize your focus is on creating the actual software, but you really need to put more resources on revamping and curating the online documentation. I know that the ever present emphasis on deadlines and the bottom line makes it difficult, but it's frustrating as someone who's trying to learn how to use this software to instead find myself struggling to locate coherent tutorials.

I'm not finished with the video series yet, but I think this is the correct order so far:

  1. Introduction
  2. Install CQ
  3. Authoring (parts 1 & 2)
  4. Browse Application Interface
  5. Create Project
  6. Create Template
  7. Create Page Component
  8. Web Site Structure
  9. Configure CRXDE (parts 1 & 2) (Does CRXDE work with 6.x versions? I find no mention of it outside of this video.)
  10. Include JSP
  11. Create Dynamic JSP

That's as far as I've gotten to this point, but hopefully it will get people started.

Also, the other part of the original post was asking where to download the code snippets used in the video. The only reply to that part was asking why the code was needed. The answer is that the code snippets are bits of code that the instructor wants us to copy and paste into the page as we follow along. In other words, it's supposed to be part of the training. Maybe at some point there was a link to a zip file that contained this, which has since been lost. In any case, asking for the code that we're supposed to be using isn't unreasonable.

The video series itself is quite good, by the way.

Completely agree with comments above :-

- online training and documentation for AEM is maddeningly disorganized
- frustrating struggling to locate coherent tutorials
- training videos are in wrong order
- training video code snippts are not available

FYI, the videos on the new site (when I finally found them) are also out of order. This appears to be the same videos as on the old site (with several missing), although I couldn't get any of them to actually play to confirm that. As before, there is no sign of the code snippets that are supposed to be used with the course.

I checked and very few videos - for marketing purpose, are only available for free. Why should we pay to see videos. You people are charging to know about your product. It's high time now. It's strange that Adobe is asking money from us to learn about their product.
