Responsive Grid Image Alignment

I was wondering if there is any way to align images via the authoring layout mode using the out of the box responsive grid such that in the image attached there is not the gap between the top left small image and the bottom left small image?

Image below is how it looks now

and Image below is how i want it to look

Is this possible without customisation of the Responsive Grid component/css?
