Dealing with manual edits after a translation has occurred

Avatar

Level 2

Looking for some ideas here on the best way to handle the following scenario specifically as it relates to AEM Sites and Translation.

1. We have pages that have been translated from a Global English Master to various languages through a Translation Provider (SDL and others).

2. When the translations come back, inevitably our in-country marketers want some tweaks here and there which are then made manually to the resulting AEM pages.

At this point we are good and everything works perfectly.

3. We then have some new additions/changes to some components on the page which happen on the Global Master level and need to be carried down.

4. If we run it through the translation process again, then it will inevitably overwrite the manual changes that were made in #2.

It appears that locking individual components from being translated or breaking that inheritance no longer exists, so would appreciate any ideas. It seems like a very standard problem so inevitably there must be a simple way to solve this, right?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Note:

If the business requirement demands to manual edit more frequently - then you have to customize the Translation process.
