Creating none standard assets In the DAM

In AEM we want to manage all of our recipes, they will be used across a number of websites therefore we don't want to create them in a specific sites structure. What I want to do is allow a user to go into the DAM eg the assets tab and click create and in that dropdown there would be an option for Recipe which would then open a scaffold and allow them to enter the recipe data. This would then be stored in the DAM not at a site level and any components that want to display elements of a recipe would reference the  recipe asset so changes can be made to a recipe in one place and all components would simply update.

Is this possible? Can I add an asset to the DAM that isn't an image/video etc?

Hi

In AEM 6.2, you can use content fragments that let you create original content in AEM, enabling copy writers to create editorial content before it is being authored in a page, and to further allow curating such content by creating channel specific variations and by associating collections with relevant media content. As a result, web producers receive content that is prepared and "ready to go”, enabling them to focus on assembling content across channels, globally and on a local level.

We have Helpx article created to tell how to use it :- https://helpx.adobe.com/experience-manager/using/content-fragments.html

Documentation :- https://docs.adobe.com/docs/en/aem/6-2/author/page-authoring/content-fragments.html

I hope this will help you.

Thanks and Regards

Your use case seem to be a fit case for using content fragments. They are created in dam and can be surfaced across multiple websites as needed.
