Language Copy - Bug or Expected behaviour?

Hi,

I'm following the documentation for We.Retail, Language Copy and Content Fragments here:
https://experienceleague.adobe.com/docs/experience-manager-65/developing/bestpractices/we-retail/we-...

https://experienceleague.adobe.com/docs/experience-manager-learn/sites/content-fragments/content-fra...

I've noticed a quirk or bug with Language Copy using the above documentation as follows:

Steps:
1) Fresh AEM install (version 6.5.5.0)
2) Observe only 'en' language master has content (de, fr, es and it are empty)
3) Select the language master 'en' node in sites explorer: /content/we-retail/language-masters/en
4) In the 'References' section on the left hand side select 'language copy'
5) Select all available copies (de, fr, es and it)
6) Click the 'Update language copies' drop down
7) Select 'Create Translation Project(s)' for project
8 )For Project Master select 'none'
9) Give the project a title (e.g. 'test translation project')
10) Press update

Observe:

  • After this step the translation project runs populating the language master sites for de, fr, es and it
  • The Translation job panel stated that zero content fragments were translated
  • Looking at the 'Artic Surfing in Lofoten' article under de (/content/we-retail/language-masters/de/experience/arctic-surfing-in-lofoten) the page title has been translated, BUT the article content from the content fragment has NOT been translated!

Further Steps:
11) Edit the 'Artic Surfing in Lofoten' content fragment changing some text and save: http://localhost:4502/editor.html/content/dam/we-retail/en/experiences/arctic-surfing-in-lofoten/arctic-surfing-in-lofoten
12) Go back to site explorer click on the en language master (/content/we-retail/language-masters)
13) Select 'language copies' under References and select all languages shown (de, fr, es and it)
14) Under 'Update language copies' select 'Add to existing translation project'
15) Select the name of the project created in step 9 above
16) Press 'Update'

Observe:

  • Look again at the 'Artic Surfing in Lofoten' article under de (/content/we-retail/language-masters/de/experience/arctic-surfing-in-lofoten)'
  • Now both the page title AND the content are translated

Expected Result:
Both page title AND content should be translated on the first translation run.

Am I wrong to epect the expected result, and if so why?

Regards

Chris
