Is style system is compatible with the static template in AEM 6.4?

Is style system is compatible with the static template in AEM 6.4?

I have added the style tabs in the design dialog and added some styles to it, but in the edit mode i am just seeing only the style icon but not the styles. may i know what is the reason.

As per my understanding, we can not use it for static template. because it is mainly useful for template authors to define style.
