Integrating OKTA Open ID with AEM 6.4

We are trying to integrate open id connect (using okta) with AEM 6.4 and wanted to know if someone already did that with 6.4 or 6.3 with or without customization

Any pointer on how to do that with AEM and what could be our to do list in case its going to be pure customization.

I see this thread where its says its not supported Does AEM Sites 6.4 support OpenID authentication?

I checked 6 months ago and was told by Eng it was not supported.
