Help in understanding Sling Filters

Hi All,

Suppose, we plan to use sling filter to remove automatically generated divs in components. I am finding it difficult to understand how exactly this concept works, I mean how exactly would the flow be, if I were to do this in sling filters.Basically, how do I know for which use case I need to make  use of sling filters.
