group.isMember(user) method is sometimes very slow

Hi 

This question has already been asked however I'd like more information if anyone can help please.

The group.isMember(user) often runs extremely slow. The solved answer for the above question suggests OAK indexing however I am unsure on what exactly the index should contain as the method is OOTB and we don't know what queries it may be running behind the scenes.

Can anyone help?
