Get to Know Adobe Commerce and Adobe Document Cloud: Adobe Summit by Raymond Camden

Abstract

At this year’s Adobe Summit, the Document Services teams will be giving multiple presentations covering both our services and integrations with other Adobe products. This year our sessions include:

Automating Document Workflows for Digital Transformation — S207 — a look at using our tools with Adobe Workfront and Acrobat Sign
Unlock Adobe PDF Insights with Adobe Analytics — S506 — an introduction to using analytics with Adobe PDF Embed and integrating it with both Adobe Experience Cloud and Adobe Analytics

And the talk we’re discussing here, Dynamic Document Generation and Adobe Commerce — S505. In this session, we go over how the Document Generation API can be used with Adobe Commerce. We’ve covered Document Generation quite a bit here on this blog so we’ll go with the assumption you’ve got a basic idea of what it does. For those who don’t, the elevator pitch is simple. Document Generation lets you use Microsoft Word to create a template. Think of a basic Word file that contains tokens for variable replacement. The Document Generation API lets you pass that Word file along with your data to generate a dynamic PDF or Word document.

Adobe Commerce
With an understanding of what Document Generation brings to the table, what about Adobe Commerce? Adobe Commerce is a powerful e-commerce solution that lets business owners create and run their entire sales operation via the web. Built upon the open-source Magento PHP framework, it’s a flexible content management system tailored for sales. Features cover the range from product recommendations and inventory management up to artificial intelligence-backed analysis and workflows. This is an incredibly short description of Adobe Commerce, so be sure to check the list of features for more information about what’s included.
Given that quick introduction, how does Document Generation fit in? Note that what follows is still a work in progress, although the final release of this integration is coming very soon now.
