Difference between OOB Search and Communities Search?

Hi all,

Just wondering what are the differences between the OOB Search component and the Communities Search component?

When you see Communities components, think 'community content', aka user generated content (UGC).

The AEM platform search will search page content that exists in the AEM repository.

The AEM Communities search component will search UGC stored in the common UGC store.

Is there an easy way to search both UGC and the AEM repo?
Will 'AEM platform search' search UGC stored in the JCR?

I don't know the platform search component that well.

I gather this is about the publish environment - so I'm guessing the platform search will limit itself to the site's content tree.  UGC would not be found there.  So, my guess is the answer is No.  Wouldn't take much to try it out. ;-)
