Clicking the 'Target' context menu option renders content components useless

Hi

We are running AEM 6.0 SP1 and have developed custom components for a project. Now we noticed that if a content author right clicks a content component in Edit mode and selects 'Target' from the context menu, the component becomes inaccessible. When right-clicking it you only get the context menu from the webbrowser and the content component also is no longer hightlighted with the green squares around it to mark editable areas.

Why is this happening? I could disable this 'Target' context menu option using this https://forums.adobe.com/message/5334713 (I chose to disable it globally in the EditBase.js instead of doing it on each component separately).

I also noticed that on components which are located inside a parsys the context menu gets the extra menu item 'Experiences' after doing this. But clicking this doesn't do anything as we haven't configured any. Also the 'Edit' menu option doesn't lead to the editing of the content component, but the settings involving the 'Target' component in a dialog with tabs like 'Target, Client-Side, Adobe Target'

Now what I would like to know is: Are we doing something horribly wrong or is this a bug in AEM 6.0 SP1? I don't think it should be possible for content authors to destroy their components? I believe it is tied to Test & Target functionality somehow. But we haven't defined any personas or campaigns yet as we are not using these features at the moment.

Thanks for any feedback!
