Are you a new AEM user? If so, see the following community article that provides you with a list of the most basic and important resources to immediately gain value with AEM. See:

Scott,

What would you say are the bare minimum prerequisites for someone responsible for administering and maintaining AEM?

I've read the expectations for the AEM Admin & Maintenance course. Unfortunately, I have barely any knowledge about Java, XML, networking (aside from meeting people and exchanging business card), Mongo DB and Apache software.

While I've managed to successfully install AEM, whenever something breaks (which seems to be happening a lot), I don't know what to do. I've read the whole AEM documentation, every AEM blog (including yours) and watched almost every YouTube video and GEM about AEM, but I still feel like I can barely comprehend it.

Email me and we can talk more scottm@adobe.com. My blod contains a lot of dev, java api content. As a admin, there are other places to go.
