any sequence requirements when restarting author and standby in AEM 6.1?

in AEM 6.1, when recycling the author instances, do we have to stop standby author before stopping the primary, and vice versa do we have to start primary before starting standby author? Or it does not matter who stops or starts first? Thanks!
