Android tablets displaying phone content

We have an app with 2-top level collections - phone and tablet. Android tablets are displaying our phone collection rather than the tablet collection. AEM Preflight on the same Android tablet displays the correct collection. Are we missing a setting somewhere? Tips appreciated.

That is odd. Is it possible that you haven't published the top level collections? Or, do you have two projects that are very similar? Perhaps in AEM preflight you are viewing one project, but you built your Android app against the other project?

Hi Nathan,

The content is all published to the same project. Our shipping iOS app on the iPad does display the correct tablet collection, as does AEM Preflight on both iOS and Android, but our shipping Android app only shows the phone collection on 7" tablets.

Designing a layout template that displays well on everything from an iPhone 5 through a 7" Android Tablet is difficult (unless you go with an all image layout). Our old app using DPS did display the tablet folio correctly on the same devices. We are at a loss on this one since AEM Preflight presented the tablet collection we didn't have any way to view what the final phone layout template would look like on the 7" tablet - not that great.

We're having the same problem...starting with 2016.9 build. See my post here: Change in orientation behavior in Android apps

Something, somehow, changed with the Android build, but I haven't been able to find any documentation or explanation about this. Bottom line, is that right now all the Android tables that we've tested display browse pages as a large phone.

Bob and I have talked to the Android developers about this and they are taking a look to see what could be occurring. I see another post appeared on the forums as well this morning, I'm also forwarding that to the devs.

Hi Nathan

Any news about this? We have apps in google play store for big clients that are currently not displaying correctly. We also had to postpone an app-release because of that and are waiting for this to be fixed. Is there any priority from your side. I think this is fairly important for all android publishers...

pls help

The team is testing the bug fix now. The issue should be resolved in next Tuesday's release.

Thanks Bob, I assume we'll have to update our apps for the change, or is this something on the server side?

You'll need to rebuild your apps. This was a problem with App Builder improperly building the .apk file.

Any chance that this is going to add dual-orientation capabilities to Android apps to be on par with the iOS version?

The change that was made is not adding dual-orientation capabilities to Android. That's another work stream and it's not currently on the near-term roadmap.

We are currently experiencing the same issue on Android tablets. The custom preflight app is not displaying the tablet content.

Any tips or fixes?

Thank you in advance
