AEM Forms 6.5 Form Server Reader Extensions NOT attaching files

Avatar

I'm working with a US government  entity that has AEM Forms 6.5 JEE, have worked with them since AEM forms 6.2 JEE.  We have been trying without any resolution to figure out what the heck is going on with Reader Extensions at the server level.  Each time we upgrade we try reader extensions after a fresh upgrade, we're not able to attach files to our PDF's.

We still are running an old server that has reader extensions but we're getting demerits.  Basically we're being told tough figure it out.   We can't decommission 6.2 until we get this working on 6.5 and We've gotten very little help from anyone in support.  in fact, we kept asking and absolutely nothing.

Basically anyone at adobe needs to contact me and  help me figure out what the heck is going on because they will start to refuse to renew the license if nothing is done.  (I will give you my work email address which is .gov, I don't want to put that out here)  Support has not be entirely helpful, trying to find who our contact is in DC has been laughable.

Where the heck do we turn for this because some higher ups are ready to throw in the towel and move to something else.

*** thankful to @GirishBedekar  because we now have a solution  please read this thread for it...thank you again!!***

Suggest you contact Adobe support as it could very well be a known issue with that particular version

Hi, we did more than once and from all I've seen on the tickets, since April 2020. This is a very big deal and a major issue that should be resolved.

@kdenso01 What's the ticket no. for the reported issue?

Case E000249716. We were told we had to install a patch, which we did, but still, Reader Extended PDF's won't use attachments.

@kdenso01 The issue was closed on 24/11, is there any recent interaction with support with respect to the issues? I will recommend migrating to 6.5 at the earliest though.

Hi, We have actually patched 6.5 and currently using in our production environment. By the same token, we STILL have the issue with Reader Extensions not being able to attach anything to the reader extended PDF. And let me tell you, from a government standpoint, thats bad. We utilize this function a lot.

@kdenso01 I had an internal discussion and attaching a file on reader extension UI is a known issue and fix would be released in upcoming release.

Thank you so much for all your help! For those that are curious to what happened. @GirishBedekar contacted me via my DM because frankly I don't want certain emails out there and we conferenced about what the issue was.  From what we're told The fix won't be available until 6.5.8 but the workaround for AEM Forms JEE is the following:

1. Open Workbench

2. Create 2 variables, inDoc and outDoc variable, data type document

3. Add anew activity and  Reader Extension Apply Usage Rights.

4. Choose the options you need for reader extensions, making sure you add your input and output variables

5. invoke the form.    when you save the form you should then  use double quotes around the name of the form, ending with .pdf.

6.  Test the form in Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat.

@GirishBedekarthank you thank you thank you!  Can't say it enough because we now have a way forward!   It means a lot as we update forms for the agency and can continue to provide what they need.
