August release visitor ID

Are you able to give any further information on the release note around cross domain in the August 2016 release notes?

  • Added functionality to support tracking Marketing Cloud IDs across domains, native apps and hybrid apps to web transitions. (MCID-42)

Was cross domain functionality not there to begin with? And how will cross domain tracking work with 1.7.0 code release?

A quick follow up on this - the new functionality uses the Append Visitor ID Helper function. More information here: https://marketing.adobe.com/resources/help/en_US/mcvid/mcvid-appendvisitorid.html

Hi,

Thanks for reaching out. It helps in cases of where the ID service was not able to persist before such as browser to app or with hybrid apps. For example: If I click on a link in a browser that opens the mobile app, it will support tracking across that experience. From my understanding you would need to update both the SDK and JS after the release. A quick reminder these are pre-release notes and are subject to change. Keep an eye on the Release Notes for the most up to date information.

Best,

Thanks, this looks very promising, can you advise how to use this in DTM?
