Why launches not on pages?

Avatar

I am reporting our apps on launch level, but when trying to get to see launches on pagelevel there is no data. Why is that so? should launches be almost acting like visits with only different limitations?

Dear Laetizia,

Launches is a Life Cycle Metric which will fire on Application Load and not on pages.

The link Compare visits and mobile app launches will give you come idea.

Thank You

but isnt it senseless using then launches at all when this metric is not possible to be used on all other levels as well!

If launches metric is not there, how will you know the number of time the Application was opened.

You cannot use Visits, since it will end after 30 minutes of inactivity even if you didn't close the application.

And what is the need to use Launches against pages? if you can give us the requirement, we can help you if possible.

Launches are like visits but only for apps. This metric doesnt count just opening. It is being triggered when the app opens when no persisting launch is still running plus with a time limit of 5 minutes inactivity and visits with 30 minutes. Laucnhes get triggered automatically through the ios sdks and android you need to do an extra call but everything is automated.

In all help-articles it is shown to use Launches as metric for apps but when drilling down the data I am not able to use it like for pages like I would use it for visits as well. When creating a KPI Dahsboard using all the time launches and then also using visits for breakdownas this wont make the report consistent.

when you want to track how many times an app was open you need to create an own event which triggeres this beacuse launches are the wrong metric for that.

We're you able to answer your own question here or is there still an outstanding question?

it is still open. because I dont get why Adobe is offering for apps launches as main petric but when it comes to other parts like screens etc. this metric is totally not usable. Then I would need to create a mixed report out of launches and visits which shows of course different numbers!

I'll see if I can get a few people from our mobile teams to give their input here. Thanks for following up.
