Reconcile profile + subscriptions

How do you reconcile a profile + subscriptions  based on the "User ID" in a workflow?  Anyone have an example?  I have tried many times and I am not able to do that in a reconciliation.  I do know how to it in a query.

Following steps should do that:

• Query on mobile app subscription where "User Key" is not empty
• Use reconciliation task and add "profile" as new relation
• Define the join condition
• Now the working table would contain the profile reference if found
• You can then do an Update Data and assign that for the link

That makes sense but all I have is an email address and I want to reconcile the subscriptions.
