Upgrading from V6 to ACS

Hi there,

My new employer is using v6 and is looking at moving to ACS. I've used Adobe Campaign in the past but I have no exp with ACS. I'm tasked with looking in to the migration process to get to ACS. As far as I can see it is first required to migrate from v6 to v7 then to ACS. We are on prem and we will probably stay on prem for the forseeable future.

So a few questions I hope someone can help me with.

1. Is the migration path above correct? If so what is the effort to move from v7 to ACS. I have a pretty good idea of the v6 to v7 migration already (i've done it in the past) but not to ACS

2. Can ACS be used on prem? what about our private cloud?

3. I am aware that the only OS / RDBMS supported today is Debian 7/8 (64bit) for the application service and PostgreSQL 9.3 for the marketing database. Is that still the case?

4. We use FDA and the data enrichment activities. Are they currently supported in ACS?

5. We had some pretty impressive email deliver performance times, how does ACS email delivery perform compared to v6?

Thanks for reaching out to the community.

I am not sure why you want to move to ACS from v7(classic version), ACS is very limited in the case of many functionalities.

I would recommend going for the premium version(ACS+v7) you can get both things in one place anyways let me answer your questions.

Yes, you can do that, but you may have to redesign few thing as these two systems are not compatible(Read different systems), ACS is not the next version of v7.

No, you can't use ACS on Prem.

No, this is not the case, Read this link for Compatibility Matrix

No, FDA is not supported by ACS.

It's a cloud so you can, make it fast by scaling your network. You will be able to achieve a simmilar response from ACS.

Thanks that helps. There are very good reasons for moving from V6/V7 aka Classic. Speak to your Adobe rep.

ACS+V7 is a no go for the very same reasons.

I don't really understand what Ut's a cloud so you can, make it fast by scaling your network means. If it's cloud what can I do in my network to improve performance.

Thanks, It may be useful in your case, but I feel classic is right version for people  like me

Well, the cloud is nothing special, it just a network cluster in a remote location instead of your network.

Your cloud infra provider, like Adobe(AWS or Azure), can allocate more resources for your ACS environment based on your requirements which will enable you to achieve the same performance as if it is hosted on premise(even faster if your client a globally distributed company)

OK thank you. I can agree with the statement ‘the cloud is noting special’, it’s not just another network somewhere. Using the cloud is a fundamental shift for a business to make. But that’s a subject for another community.
