External SMS API integration

Hi Team,

In response to the below question and answers in the below link.

https://experienceleaguecommunities.adobe.com/t5/adobe-campaign-classic-questions/how-to-read-the-re...

I want to continue the discussion here.

I have question like, we have tracking log, broad log and other logs for email where we track whether email sent failed, whether link in the email clicked or not.

Similarly when we send an SMS using external API, we want to track it?

How do we achieve it?

Expecting it to similarly implemented like email channel.

Kindly suggest.

Thanks,

Sachin

It depends how you have passed the SMS delivery information to the third party SMS provider. The delivery structure within ACC is the same for both Email and SMS, except the Channel is specific as SMS. If you have not used an ACC external routing acount and a standard SMS delivery to carry out the send, then you will be on you own and will have to create everything, delivery, boardLog etc. If you have used a delivery (with routing) then the boardlog records for your SMS should exist and you will need to get you status updats from the provider, then attriubute these somehow. As for tracking logs, you are not likely to get anything back on this from your proiveder unless they specificly support something on this, as the SMS protocols do not support opens/clicks at the SMS level, but they may be able to tell you the "Recieved on Device" at the message level.

Hi Sachin,

You'll need an external account to be able to get logs.

Thanks,

David
