External Signal - Node activity - application

Hello, Masters of Adobe Campaign,

As I am learning about Adobe Campaign functionality I came across an external signal node and have a few questions on usage and application. 

- In what cases do you use it?
- Why can it be beneficial?
- Could you provide one example/workflow sample?

External Signals are very powerful. Used in both internal (workflow to workflow) or external (HTTPs API call to ACC trigger a workflow or process.).
